| So what type of ship will you choose? As for myself, I’ll be going for a cruiser. |

| Science vessel. I'll be happy to respond to distress calls, but I'll be doing a lot of exploring. |

| Well, I think I'll mostly be focusing on cruisers, but since we will all be able to own multiple ships, I plan to try 'em all and see what I like best. |

| Science or cruiser. I guess it will depend on what the fleet needs. |

| LIKE I SAID ENSIGN in the previous post in Engineering:
Unfortunately that won't work there ensign as they are 2 different sized Starships, plus Prometheus is 3 times the size 2 times the engines the weapon systems will not fit. |

Heh, judging from the posts here we're in dire need of some escorts. |

| Correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I remember reading in interviews/dev chat sessions/forums it doesn't really matter what type of ship you use so long as your skilled with it. Not only that, but if you have decent components in your ship, it's very possible to use a type of ship that isn't "designated" (for lack of a better term, the quotes are meant to imply a make-shift term) for your class. For example, if you were a tactical officer with combat on the brain, you absolutely could fly a cruiser that is outfitted to basically just be a huge tank of a gunboat. Another example with the same tactical officer would be to fly a science vessel if you wanted to do a surgical strike against a cloaked ship and do massive damage before they decloak; maybe you could even take down their shields while they are cloaked if you get a lucky shot or if you can target subsystems while enemies are cloaked, that way they would be sitting ducks when they decloak. The bottom line is that if you can think of a good way to use any kind of ship, there's probably a way to do it. It's all about thinking outside the box.
EDIT: This is not to say that a given ship type is not designed for a class (ex. tactical = escort) because the ship types are totally designed to maximize the abilities of a given class. I'm just trying to say that it's not cut in stone what type of ship to use depending on what class you are. |

| Cryptic hasn't added it to the Ships of the Line yet, but I know I've seen a Steamrunner in at least one of the videos, so whether or not they will be playable under a different name remains to be seen. |
