About the 44th Fleet

The year is 2373 and the Federation has been at war with the Dominion for one earth year. With the Klingon Empire in ruins and the Cardassian Union shattered. The Federation and Romulan Empire emerge from the conflict as the only major powers with the influence to affect the future of the Alpha Quadrant.

With limited resources Starfleet mandates the creation of a new fleet. The 44th Fleet was established in 2375 for the sole purpose of tipping the balance of the war in Starfleet's favor, at the time it was the highest numbered Fleet unit in Starfleet service. After six more months of war between the Dominion and the Romulan/Federation Coalition, the war turned for the worse, including the destruction of half the 44th Fleet. With the Federation on the brink of extinction and after devasting losses on both sides the unthinkable happens, the Dominion surrenders. The 3 year war with the Dominion has finally come to an end. With the Federation in shambles it was a bitter sweet victory, but a victory none the less............

34 Years have passed since the Federation and Dominion signed the Treaty of non-aggression. The year is 2409 and tensions are at an all-time high with the powers that are in the Alpha Quadrant, but with the Cardassians still rebuilding and the Romulans more worried about their internal affairs, the Klingon Empire is their biggest threat.................or so the Federation thought.

Starfleet Intelligence has confirmed reports of Borg activity within the boundaries of the Alpha Quadrant, which has come as a surprise to Starfleet Command, but not to Annika Hansen (formerly Seven of Nine) who currently serves as the foremost expert of the Borg at the Daystrom Institute. She forewarned Starfleet 24 years ago of a impending Borg invasion but no one listened to her. "Bet they'll listen now" she exclaimed....

And that they did......

New Fleets of Starships were being built at an alarming rate, all fitted with the latest and greatest of anti-borg weaponry in anticipation of a Borg invasion. Such Fleets as: 2nd Fleet under the command of Admiral Teg, 5th Fleet under the command of Admiral Tral, Serenity Station/Firefly Fleet under the watchful eye of Admiral Baumer and the TUFOP-HQ Fleet under the command of Admiral Explorer.

With the rise in tension with the Klingon Empire and the new Borg invasion threat, Starfleet's resources were stretched to their limit once again. Starfleet Command had no other choice but to mandate the reformation of the Mighty 44th. With Starbase 817 (Codename: Eden) as their home, the 44th Fleet was reborn and reorganized. Just like it was during the Dominion Wars, the 44th serves in the greatest time of need with honor, bravery, and distinction.

Under the command of Fleet Admiral Webster, the 44th Fleet is in the process of establishing a solid command structure, one that follows the true principles of Starfleet and it's military maritime traditions.

In preparation for the upcoming release of STO, I am pleased to annouce the formation of the mighty 44th Fleet. I am looking for committed and dedicated individuals to join the ranks of the 44th. We will be a highly structured and dedicated Fleet, but having fun is our top priority.

Roles and responsibilites of office:

Admiral of Operations(Adm) - Will serve as Executive Officer; overseea the operations aspect of the Fleet. This includes: Combat, Intelligence, Security and Training and Recruitment.

Admiral of Sciences(Adm)- Will serve as Second Officer of the Fleet; oversees the sciences aspect of the Fleet. This includes: Medical, Engineering, Research and Development and Communications.

Admiral of Combat(VAdm)- Falls under the purview of the Adm of Operations; Commanding Officer:Combat
Responsible for developing combat and tactical stratigies. Also responsible for creating combat RP senarios for the fleet to enjoy. Oversees all Combat Squadrons.

Admiral of Medical(VAdm) - Falls under the purview of the Adm of Sciences; Head of Starfleet Medical

Admiral of Research and Development(VAdm)- Falls under the purview of the Adm of Sciences; Commanding Officer: Research and Development. Responsible for thinking and creating new ways to make the Fleet run seemlessly. Researching new technologies and developing new ways of operating. Responsible for the development of the Fleet's website, avatars and signature format, will work with Intelligence to acomplish this. For the creative mind!!!!!!!

Admiral of Intelligence(RAdm)- Falls under the purview of the Adm of Operations; Commanding Officer: Starfleet Intelligence. Responsible for all 44th Fleets Intelligence missions and operations. Will work hand and hand with Research and Development to create a 44th Fleet website, avatars and signaure formats.

Admiral of Training and Recruitment(RAdm) - Falls under the purview of the Fleet Admiral; Will serve as Commendant of Starfleet Academy. Responsible for the recruitment and education of new recruits, also responsible for the placement of officers graduating from Starfleet Academy (based on a first come, first serve basis.) Responsiblities also include maintaining an up-to-date Fleet roster.

and lastly,

Admiral of Engineering(RAdm) - Falls under the purview of the Adm of Sciences; Commanding Officer: Engineering. Responsible for the development of Vent or any other communication medium for Fleet business.


Although all new recruits are assigned a starting rank of Ensign, promotions are readily obtainable through forum activity here and on the Star Trek Online forums.
